The third of eleven lessons that links to the role of religion in the Middle Ages.

This lesson examines the role of medieval monasteries.

Students will:

  1. Annotate a picture of a medieval monastery to identify it’s various buildings
  2. Categorise the role of monasteries and answer questions
  3. Analyse different historical interpretations on the role of monasteries and answer a 4 mark exam question that links to Question 3b on Paper 3 of the new GCSE 9-1 specification.

This is part of a series of lessons that aims to encompass the new 9-1 GCSE skills into Key Stage 3.

Lessons are colourful and engaging and match the content of the new Exploring History textbook from Pearson, although the textbook is not necessary for any of the tasks.

Not enough to be a full lesson, it includes good activities but could definitely have a lot more.
