The seventh of eleven lessons that links to the role of religion in the Middle Ages.
This lesson examines the tensions that existed between the Church and the state in the 12th century.
Students will examine:
- the different powers that the Church and the state enjoyed in the 12th century
- the ways in which Thomas Becket and Henry II clashed over Church power.
This is part of a series of lessons that aims to encompass the new 9-1 GCSE skills into Key Stage 3.
Lessons are colourful and engaging and match the content of the new Exploring History textbook from Pearson, although the textbook is not necessary for any of the tasks.
