Final writing outcome

A two-part extended piece: a narrative scene in which a child character faces an ethical dilemma about unexpected money, followed by a formal discussion text arguing what society should do with unexpected wealth, using modal verbs, passive voice and parenthesis.

Grammar features (Year 5 NC-aligned)
  • Parenthesis using brackets to embed a character’s asides, thoughts or additional information within a sentence (Y5-6 NC: brackets, dashes or commas to indicate parenthesis).
  • Modal verbs (should, must, might, could, ought to) to express characters’ conflicting moral positions and degrees of certainty or obligation (Y5-6 NC: modal verbs).
