Based on the research from ‘The Art and Science of Teaching Primary Reading’ by Christopher Such, these lessons support the acquisition of a balance of reading skills. These lessons were planning to be taught on Monday and Friday each week (beginning on a Friday), with the pages between being read as a shared text throughout the week. On the days of the week these lessons do not take place, reading lessons support age-related fluency acquisition or close reading.
