This is an "all in one" lesson designed to help high ability students revise the topic of specific heat capacity.

The idea behind the lesson is that students complete a baseline exam question on specific heat capacity.

The marks from this baseline are linked to the lesson outcomes and also advise on the next activity (class wide AfL should be used e.g. coloured cards).

Students should collect a chilli card that is in line with the level at which they answered the baseline question (explained in ppt and lesson plan).

Should a student struggle with that question, they can collect a "sauce" card which provides hints and tips for completing the question.

Once completed they can either move onto the next card OR complete the final question which is a tweaked version of the baseline question, after which they then feed back their scores.

There is room for reflection time.

Highest ability students may which to try the "ghost pepper" challenge, which contains an A-Level question on specific heat capacity.

This is a tried and tested resource which has proven extremely effective at promoting progress in this topic area with students from a range of abilities.
