New for AAQ Pearson Applied Science BTEC from Sept 2025 Specification

This lesson covers:
•Recap task of forces covering free body diagrams, types of forces, balanced vs unbalanced forces and resulting motion
•What is Newton’s Third Law of Motion and the criteria for objects to meet Newton’s 3rd Law with animated examples including what doesn’t meet Newton’s third law criteria
•Task where students match the definitions and an example to each law, identify whether different interactions are examples of Newton’s 3rd law and apply all w laws to an example
•What are resultant forces and how do they affect the motion of objects followed by how resultant forces change on a vehicle as it accelerates, reaches constant velocity and decelerates.
•What is drag along with factors that can affect drag
•Task where students apply their knowledge of forces, resultant forces and motion to a velocity-time graph
•Animated section that shows how forces, resultant forces and motion lead to terminal velocity in a free falling sky diver and a lower terminal velocity when a parachute is deployed
•How does terminal velocity, forces and motions change when objects fall in liquids. Followed by task that summarises motion and forces and an object falling in the air and a data analysis task that allow students to explain how motion changes when objects fall in liquids and apply knowledge to explain how object motion changes in liquids of higher viscosities
NO PRINTING REQUIREMENTS
