Teacher Description – Nicky Cruz
Nicky Cruz (born 1938) is a Christian evangelist and author best known for his dramatic life story. Born in Puerto Rico, he moved to New York City as a teenager and became involved in gang life before experiencing a Christian conversion through the ministry of David Wilkerson. After leaving the gang, Cruz dedicated his life to sharing his experiences and encouraging others with a message of hope, forgiveness and personal transformation.
His story is told in the book Run Baby Run and is also featured in The Cross and the Switchblade. Today, Nicky Cruz is known internationally for speaking in churches, schools and conferences about overcoming violence, finding purpose and the importance of faith.
