Nuclear Equations and Radioactive Decay

This lesson was written for my bottom set yr10 GCSE class. The lesson doesn’t require IT or a lab but does need access to a Periodic Table and some prior knowledge of nuclear radiation.
The lesson begins with a Do Now or Settler Task that assesses knowledge of nuclear radiation. There is a recap of Atoms, Isotopes and Nuclear Radiation with some information and comprehension questions.
The main part of the lesson provides details, examples and comprehension and practice questions about Alpha Radiation and then Beta Radiation. There is a short section at the end about Gamma Radiation.
The lesson finishes with a Plenary Activity which is an opportunity for pupils to write about what they have learned.
