A worksheet and answer sheet to support your pupils practise number bonds to 10.

For this activity, you will need:
Counters or counting blocks

Using counters or counting blocks, pupils count out the number shown in the number bond. Ask pupils to then add more counters or counting blocks until they reach 10. When pupils have added enough counters to reach 10, ask them to complete the number bonds and equations on the worksheet.

Top tip: use two different coloured counting blocks to help your pupils see the addends being put together. It can help pupils if they use the same coloured counting block for the existing number to avoid confusion (e.g the existing colour is always blue and the missing number is always red).

Want to make this a group activity? Project the worksheet on your interactive whiteboard and complete it together as a class. You could use interactive counters or place 10 counters on each pupil’s desk to use before asking for answers.
