What’s included?
This download includes x2 A4 pages, portrait orientation, pdf format. These resources have been designed to use together.

What’s it for?
This Easter-themed resource is a hands-on way for learners to explore and reinforce number bonds to 5. Once the eggs have been assembled (from Page 1), learners can check their answers on the back of each egg, promoting independent learning. Page 2 provides a space to record and check the completed number bond pairs.

Who’s it for?
This resource has been designed for early years and pupils in year one as well as older students needing additional learning support.

Resource details
An adult will need to prepare this resource prior to use. This resource needs:

  • plain A4 white card to print on (one sheet per set)
  • scissors
  • a glue stick
  • paper scorer
  • ruler

Tip!
Prior to folding the eggs it is advisable to use a round metal (ball-head) ‘paper scorer’ and a ruler to draw a scored line (where indicated in the centre of each egg pair) to make folding quicker, easier and more accurate.

How to Use
For durability, print both pages on cardstock and follow the instructions.

Pages 1 and 2: The Activity
First, cut out and assemble the Easter eggs from Page 1. Shuffle the eggs and place them on a table, with all eggs facing the same colour up. Learners then match each number bond pair, e.g. “5” with “0.”

If a learner is unsure of a match, they can flip the egg to reveal the correct answer on the back, encouraging independent learning.

Once all pairs are matched, learners place the egg pieces onto the egg outlines - on Page 2. Learners write the number bond on the line provided and then colour or check the corresponding number of tiny egg shapes above each numeral. This visual check helps them confirm that each pair adds up to 5. A “Number Bonds to 5 Checker” at the bottom of the sheet provides additional support.
