Number Formation 0-20: EYFS

Clear, friendly number formation cards for every number from 0 to 20. Each card has a big grey number to trace, a start dot, simple direction words and a ten frame to count, so children see, say, trace and count each number in one go.

Cards 0 to 10 show direction arrows that sit outside the number, with numbered strokes on 4 and 5 where children lift their pencil. On the teen cards the first ten frame is always full, so children see each teen number as ‘ten and some more’. The number word is printed on every card, and a blank card lets you practise any number you choose.

Supports these Early Learning Goals from the DfE’s EYFS statutory framework (effective 1 September 2026): Number (‘Have a deep understanding of numbers to 10, including the composition of each number.’ and ‘Subitise (recognise quantities without counting) up to 5.’), Numerical Patterns (‘Verbally count beyond 20, recognising the pattern of the counting system.’) and Fine Motor Skills (‘Hold a pencil effectively in preparation for fluent writing – using the tripod grip in almost all cases.’). The framework names ten frames as a way to organise counting. Not endorsed by the DfE.

Made for Reception (EYFS). Print on card or laminate and use with a dry-wipe pen. Start points follow common print; if your school’s handwriting scheme differs, follow your scheme. Written in UK English, it prints clearly in colour or black and white.
