F181 Science in Society – Full Practice Exam Paper with Pre-release, Insert and Mark Scheme

This is a complete mock exam built to feel like the real thing, from the pre-release booklet to the last mark on the mark scheme.

Students get a pre-release booklet to study beforehand. It contains two original sources on beavers being returned to English rivers to reduce flooding: a research article with real-looking flow data from a three-year study, and a news report from a valley divided over the plan. The background facts are real and have been checked. The study, the people and the places are fictional, so the material is fully original. A clean Insert copy is provided for exam day.

The question paper follows the official format closely:

50 marks in 1 hour 15 minutes
Section A (26 marks) based on the pre-release, ending with a 9-mark Discuss question
Section B (24 marks) on unseen contexts: smart water meters, a flawed sports drink study and electric vehicle charging data, with a 6-mark Discuss question, a graph to plot and a misleading social media post to take apart
even the split of marks between the three performance objectives matches a recent official paper

The mark scheme is laid out the way OCR lay theirs out. It credits the right answers and flags the common wrong ones, such as the inverted percentage and the forgotten negative value.

Supplied as editable Word files and print-ready PDFs.
