Ofsted have published their new toolkits for inspections starting from November 2025. There is a lot of information in the documents that they have published including in the toolkits and the operational guidance. This is a one page summary.
Their first principle for inspectors is that an inspection should seek to find ways in which schools enable students to achieve, belong and thrive. So I have used this lens to generate a summary. It was helpful for me to reduce the number of areas to consider as there are now 9 aspects in total. As an ex- SENCO/SLT member and current school governor - I have also included a leadership aspect along side achieve, belong and thrive.
As with any summary it involved making decisions about what to include and what to leave out! I used AI and also searches to find key words as well as my own reading and interpretation of the documents to reach this draft which I am sharing in case others are seeking to explore the same ideas and want to use it as a starting point for their own work.
