This resource is for KS3 students and weak KS4 students. The resource consists of two lesson presentations, which show how I teach operations with negative numbers.
Lesson 1 teaches adding and subtracting with directed numbers. The lesson starts by explaining addition and subtraction in terms of starting position on the number line, direction of movement along the number line and the size of movement.
Lesson 2 teaches multiplying and dividing with directed numbers, building on the first lesson.
