Otzi Iceman Reading Lesson: Vipers skills – Retrieval, Inference & Vocabulary​ Stone Age

A Year 3/4 Reading lesson designed around the VIPERS skills: Retrieval, Inference, and Vocabulary, and linked to the Stone Age topic. The lesson focuses on a short text about Ötzi the Iceman, presented through a supportive PowerPoint with embedded questions targeting key reading skills.
Tasks are differentiated at three levels: Helping Hand for learners needing additional support, a core task for on-track learners, and an Above and Beyond challenge for higher-attaining pupils. The structure enables all students to access the text, deepen comprehension, and apply VIPERS strategies confidently.
