This download contains a lesson workbook, Powerpoint presentation and mark-scheme.
This lesson focusses on the difference between alternating current and direct current.
The students begin by investigating what is meant by a direct current and how it may be created. They then investigate what is meant by a alternating current and how this may be created.
Students then focus on the properties of the UK mains electricity, its maximum voltage, average voltage and frequency.
In the final part of the lesson students learn how to read from an oscilloscope, and practice reading voltage, period and frequency from oscilloscope screen graphs.
