This differentiated lesson will explain the basic function of a transistor, along with the five types of logic gate that can be created with it, and that pupils need to know for the OCR Physics specification.

This lesson explains how OR, AND, NOT, NAND and NOR gates work, as well as their associated truth tables.

The lesson also shows how two or more gates can be combines and gets pupils to complete truth tables for these circuits.

The lesson also sets the pupils a task of designing multiple logic gate circuits for a range of real world applications, each with a worked example to show on the board.

The lesson has three plenaries to check your pupils understanding.
