## Pancake day

Maths - Pancake Day. I’ve taken the other two resources from the TES here and changed the numbers so that they fit together! Thanks guys! Starter: Using simple multiplication techniques to find out quantities needed for recipe (word file) Main: Using ratio to change recipe for 6 so that it fits for the whole class (powerpoint) Plenary: Any ideas…?

I know it's not pancake day but we are starting our topic with making pancakes so this is perfect! Thank you! x

#### Pancake Day

Prior to the assembly, get each tutor group to nominate a 'flipper' and a 'counter'. You will need to buy a pack of ready made pancakes & borrow a frying pan from Food teacher for each tutor group. I spoke about giving up biscuits é signing up to Race for life - you may want to change these slides. The 'flipping slide' has a link to a stopwatch - 1 minute was plenty. I got the counters to count for a different tutor group.

#### Pancake Day

Pupils read text - Facts about Pancake Day- then they use the writing frame to write down what they can remember. Especially good for Dyslexic pupils who have difficulty writing in a linear fashion.

#### Circle Theorem Posters

Beautiful pictures that have circles in them, London Eye, Tyne Bridge, Crop circle, etc... with the 7 circle theorems superimposed onto them. I've printed them onto A2, laminated, and they now make a lovely display in the Maths corridor.

#### GCSE Maths Mind Maps & Checklists AQA Edexcel Foundation Higher

I’ve created some mind maps to help students revise the 4 main areas in maths: Algebra, Number, Shape & Data. Simple language has been used to make them accessible to all students.
I also included corresponding checklists for students to use to help them with their revision. A smiley face denotes the student has mastered & is confident in the topic, straight- could do with some revision, and unhappy- this topic needs attention. These are in word doc format so feel free to edit/add/subtract to them.
I’ve used this to help plan revision lessons and get an idea of what the group finds difficult and this has worked well.
For a more in depth look at the individual areas please see my other resources:
