These videos provide disciplined grammar practise for students with an emphasis on active learning and application of grammar rules. They were designed as a differentiated homework activity to consolidate grammar lessons or to prepare students for a lesson where knowledge of specific grammar is required. Initial lessons start from the very basics and then explanations are stripped out as prior knowledge is assumed. Activities are self-explanatory and students pause the video, complete the exercises and then self-mark them ensuring they correct any mistakes to improve their understanding.
a writing mat on holidays - a good start for controlled assessment at KS4. There are 2 more writing mats on this topic on TES called future holidays & staycation (using the present tense) if you are interested
PowerPoint and accompanying workpack designed to encourage pupils to use a variety of complex structures in their spoken and written French. I use it as a revision tool for pupils to use as part of their controlled assessment preparation. Please do let me know if you spot any mistakes.
Print out the cards and laminate them. Pupils work in pairs or small groups and race against each other to form the perfect tense with the cards after reading the infinitive and the subject from the PowerPoint. Good element of competition and really highlights how much (or little!) they actually know. Includes avoir and être verbs and agreement.
Can be easily adapted to suit your requirements too.
