This resource is related to story, 'Playing for the Team'. The story is presented in three versions, each version telling the same story though at different levels of sophistication in terms of language, story ideas and vocabulary.

Three Levels of Comprehension contains notes and resources for teachers to explicitly teach literal, inferential and referential (personal) levels of reading comprehension. It also includes a section where students can creatively respond to'Playing for the Team'. The information in this resource is detailed and carefully sequenced. Although not a lesson plan, this resource can be used to support and inform lesson planning for teaching reading comprehension.

Although 'Three Levels of Reading Comprehension' has been prepared for teachers, the language in the text is directed towards EAL/D students. Teachers can easily extract the relevant sections and provide them to students as focused activities that support and consolidate learning about the different levels of reading for meaning.
