Popsicle sticks & wooden block building challenge cards - STEM activity for EYFS

There are 15 construction cards included in this set and children will love the challenge of building the various items including towers, sea-saw, helicopter, bicycle, truck and various shapes. Many of these challenge cards require children to investigate BALANCE.

These cards are to be used alongside standard coloured wooden blocks and popsicle sticks as shown in the pictures. This would make an ideal independent activity station for a Pre-School or Reception class. There are varying levels of difficulty which students can select from. Alternatively, they could work alongside an adult to work on a more challenging building task.

This is an excellent task to develop:

• Fine-motor skills
• Problem solving and reasoning skills
• Hand-eye co-ordination
• Language development
• Mathematical understanding – geometry, counting, size, space, classifying etc.
• Science – exploring BALANCE
• STEM (science, technology, engineering, and maths)
