I taught this lesson to a very able KS3 class to stretch and challenge them. They were introduced to this poem after studying A Midsummer Night’s Dream and we were looking at drawing parallels between the portrayals of women in both texts as well as introducing students to studying/analysing poetry. Learning objectives taken from GCSE level AOs.

These few lessons (I taught over two, could easily be stretched to three) firstly introduces students to writing about form and structure of poetry and analysing more difficult poetry using abstract ideas.
The latter lesson has a focus on PEE development, looking in particular at Browning’s portrayal of women again, with both good and bad examples to develop student understanding.
