Understanding Literature Components

In literature, different types of work such as stories, plays/dramas, and poems have their unique components and structures. This summary will help you understand the main parts of each type.

Stories:
Stories are divided into chapters which contribute to the overall narrative. For instance, Casey’s spring break story is a great example of a chapter in a story.

Plays/Dramas:
These are composed of various elements such as acts, scenes, cast, stage directions, props, narrators, and scripts. Each of these elements serves a specific function in the performance of the play or drama.

Poems:
Poems use sound devices, lines, stanzas, and rhyme schemes. Sound devices like rhyme, repetition, alliteration, and onomatopoeia enhance the rhythm of the poem. Lines and stanzas structure the poem, while rhyme schemes create rhythm.
