This session works through each of the Power and Conflict poems one by one, giving key reminders of the context around each poem, and encouraging discussion about the poets’ purposes. There are also reminders about the form and structure of poems and how this reflects these ideas.
This is followed by a task in which the poems are grouped into fours and threes, each under a theme. The pupils need to draw connections between the poems and work out what points they would make to compare each.
I’m using this as a final revision session the day before the AQA English Literature Paper 2.
