Prepositions and Prepositional Phrases- Complete 5 Day lesson Plan with all materials

*This is a fun, informative way for students to learn the function of prepositions and prepositional phrases. This resource pack contains all that you need for a week worth of prepositions and prepositional phrases. Correlates with ELACC5.L.1 and ELACC4.L.1.
Each day includes the standard, essential question, activating strategy, teaching strategy including instructional methods, independent activities, and a summarizing strategy.

Day 1: Students will understand the function of a preposition and be introduced to prepositions. Resources include: Fun activity for students to complete and an anchor chart. (Anchor chart may be used as is, or you can make one like it on chart paper, or you can print this one out on poster sized paper).
Day 2: Students will review prepositions through a power point presentation. Resources include: Power point presentation, worksheet for formative assessment, and ticket out the door summarizing cards.
Day 3: Students will be introduced to the prepositional phrase. Students will have an opportunity to practice identifying prepositions and prepositional phrases. Resources include: Partner strips and 30 task cards with recording sheets.
Day 4: Students will identify prepositions and prepositional phrases in writing. They will locate prepositions from paragraphs and will also have the opportunity to write their own story, using a prepositional phrase story starter. Resources include: Preposition picture page, Over the River and Through the Woods activity, and story starter preposition cards.
Day 5: Assessment. Students will continue to practice identifying prepositional phrases in writing. They will take an assessment that will demonstrate student understanding with prepositions and prepositional phrases. Resources include: Paragraph finder and 2 page assessment.
