Focusing on an extract from Private Peaceful, by Michael Morpurgo, (p153 - 154) this guided reading session provides a deeper anaylsis of language choices, literacy devices and impact on the reader. It is ideal for children working confidently at National Expectation and moving towards Greater Depth.

It includes a lesson plan linked to reading domains, a page of questions with marks / domains indicated, answer sheet, a PEE chart (point / example/ explain) with an example, a word activity on synonyms to precede the reading of the text.
