AO3-focused retrieval task requiring students to recall a full PEEL evaluation paragraph from memory, including strengths, weaknesses and possible counterarguments.

This AO3 ‘What’s the Point?’ Task Sheet is a targeted retrieval practice activity designed to strengthen students’ ability to recall and construct high-quality evaluation in A Level Psychology.

Students complete the task from memory, writing a full PEEL paragraph (Point, Evidence/Explanation, Evaluation, Link) focused entirely on AO3. Where appropriate, students are encouraged to include:

A clear strength or weakness

Supporting explanation or evidence

A counterargument or debate

A link back to the exam question

The activity can be used as a:

Lesson starter

Mid-lesson retrieval check

Revision or pre-assessment task

It may be timed or untimed and can be followed by self or peer assessment using notes or model answers to identify missing evaluative detail and improve future responses.

This resource helps students move beyond vague evaluation, developing precision, depth, and exam-ready AO3 paragraphs with increased confidence.
