Poetry Reading Comprehension

This excellent resource will guide you through the poetry book ‘Wouldn’t it be awesome if…’ *one poem at a time. It focuses on different aspects linked to word meaning, use of descriptive language, spotting language features such as, alliteration, rhyme, near rhyme, author’s intentions and much more.

In this package you will receive:

• One set of questions for each poem (6 poems)
• Two additional sets of questions linking to all the poems and one set linking to conservation and the Borneo Nature Foundation (information contained at the back of the poetry book)
• Each set varies between 6 – 10 questions
• Questions pitched at Years 3 and 4 following shared discussions as part of guided reading or Years 5 and 6 as an independent task.
• At the end of this reading children should be equipped to write their own poetry in a similar style and structure or take on their own poetic structure.
