Reading Fluency prompt/discussion cards KS2

A great way to develop and assess your children’s reading fluency discussion skills.

• These prompt/discussion cards enable your class to make meaningful comments about the reading fluency of others.
• During reading fluency, ask the children to listen out for the different components and use the prompts to give meaningful, developmental and constructive feedback
• Do your children know what their reading should sound like? Do they know when they are doing the right thing?
• They can be used in a variety of ways by a variety of people.
• Do you have reading ambassadors/midday supervisors/TAs/volunteers who hear children read aloud on a 1:1 basis but don’t know how to feedback? This resource shows them what reading fluency looks like and gives a wide and varied selection of responses that can be personalised to each child.
• These can be enlarged to make a classroom display to showcase what good reading fluency looks and sounds like.
• Children need to be given the tools to make contributions that avoid ambiguity but promote deep and meaningful assessment discussions.
