This resource includes a teacher booklet (with full answers) and a pupil booklet designed to strengthen reading comprehension, inference and vocabulary skills. Each pupil booklet contains a carefully chosen nature- or adventure-themed extract linked to the class novel October, October, followed by 10 structured questions.

Questions 1–9 are multiple choice, covering a range of key reading skills such as inference, word meanings, comprehension, retrieval, and identifying literary devices. Question 10 asks pupils to write a short personal response, encouraging them to express an opinion and reflect on the extract they have read.

Originally created for a Year 7 literacy intervention group, this resource is also suitable for confident KS2 readers, guided reading sessions, small-group work, or as a homework task to support independent reading. Clear, consistent formatting makes the resource easy to deliver and ideal for boosting comprehension skills across a range of abilities.
