Reception Autumn Term Reading Resources

These Reception Autumn Term phonics and reading resources are designed to support children as they develop their early reading skills.

This pack has been carefully created to support the phonics skills children will initially develop during the Autumn Term of Reception. It begins with recognising graphemes and identifying and matching initial sounds, before gradually progressing towards blending CVC words and using comprehension skills to match words to the correct pictures.

For children who are ready to progress, the pack also includes caption worksheets to provide an additional level of challenge and encourage children to apply their phonics knowledge independently.

There is a mixture of CVC and CVCC words, short captions and tricky words, allowing you to select activities that best suit the needs of your cohort and individual learners.

The pack includes a variety of games and worksheets that can be used during continuous provision to help children practise, reinforce and embed their phonics knowledge.

These resources can be printed as worksheets or laminated for repeated use in the classroom.
