Practise reflecting shapes on coordinate grids in the axes and in lines such as x = 1, y = −1, y = x and y = −x. 16 questions, full answers included.
Worksheet (1 page): eight questions. Students reflect a triangle, then write the coordinates of the image of a marked corner P. The mirror line is drawn for the axes and for lines parallel to them, and on question 2 the image of P is already marked as a starting point. The support then drops away: for y = x and y = −x students draw the mirror line themselves.
Further practice (1 page): eight questions graded by difficulty: reflecting in x = −2 and in a line that cuts through the shape, a flower bed reflected in a garden path, reflecting points in y = x, two reflections one after the other, completing a pond outline that is symmetrical about y = x, finding the mirror line from one corner and its image, and explaining whether a corner on the mirror line moves.
Answers to all 16 questions are included as a separate file.
Suitable for GCSE Foundation (AQA G7) and for Key Stage 3 classes working on reflections.
