This resource, last updated June 2026, covers all four learning objectives for this section: defining and using the terms normal, angle of incidence, and angle of reflection; the law of reflection (angle of incidence = angle of reflection); and the formation of an optical image in a plane mirror — including all image characteristics (same size, same distance from mirror, upright but laterally inverted, and virtual). Students work through identification tasks on ray diagrams before constructing their own, guided by a step-by-step virtual image and ray diagram activity (oPhysics simulation included).
