Research projects are great! They encourage developing wider skills in our students, they allow for personalisation and choice, they don’t require a lot of resources, they can be easily differentiated, and they can be left for subs/cover teachers. But my students really struggle with blank presentations, even with step-by-step instructions or a checklist of what to include. That’s why I created this template. It guides the students through each subtopic, giving clear instructions about what to write, and encourages real research skills beyond copying & pasting from an internet search (or asking AI to create it for them!). Each slide has been individually designed with clean, coordinated, and age-appropriate layouts, showcasing students’ research without visual clutter.
No-prep – ready to assign digitally in class
Can be differentiated - you can change the number of slides and instructions before assigning, making it appropriate for different abilities or grade levels
Suitable for non music specialists – clear instructions let students work independently
Promotes comprehension – students must summarise and synthesise information; the format discourages copy/paste and AI-generated work
Project-based learning – develop inquiry, research and presentation skills,
Flexible – can be completed in 1–3 lessons by adding or removing slides
Perfect for - General music classes, music appreciation or history units, sub plans, independent work, project-based learning, digital classes.
**Enjoyable and fulfilling **- your students can be proud of their finished project
