Complete “Ready to go” lesson with no adapting necessary!
New for AAQ Pearson Applied Science BTEC from Sept 2025 Specification
///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

This lesson covers:
•What is resistance, what is it measured in and units
•Factors that affect the resistance of a wire followed by gap fill and challenge question to summarise key points and apply
•How to calculate resistance using V=IR followed by lots of practice
•Ohm’s Law and IV characteristics
•Practical 1: students collect data to plot and analyse whether diodes, fixed resistors and filament lamps are ohmic or non-ohmic conductors. (I have also included sample data that can be used)
•Practical 2: students use an ohmmeter to find the resistance of a fixed resistor, LDR at normal room brightness and covered and a thermistor as room temperature and warmed by a hand. This is followed by application questions that allow students to apply knowledge of how LDR’s and thermistors work.

NO PRINTING REQUIREMENTS
