This World War II poetry unit is brilliant for those who are following a WWII history theme.

This unit contains five lessons with accompanying poems, PowerPoints (with real pictures to develop vocabulary), lesson plans and worksheets.

Children will work on their Vocabulary, Inference, Prediction, Explanation, Retrieval and Summarising skills as part of this unit and all prompting questions are included.

Learning Objectives:

  1. I can describe my first impressions to a poem, using ‘because’ to explain my opinion.
  2. I can use illustrations to represent a scene in a poem.
  3. I can use expression and drama to represent a verse from a poem.
  4. I can describe what themes have been covered in a poem.
  5. I can answer comprehension questions about a poem.
