Foundation tier/Level 1 worksheet adapted for lower sets/prior-attainment students with lower demand calculations, and colour-coded variables to aid with substitution and rearrangement. For the standard worksheet click here.

Intensive “Shed Loads of Practice” (SLOP)-style Independent Practice worksheet, focused on the Energy/Particle Model equation: ΔE=mcΔθ, Change in thermal energy = Mass x specific heat capacity x temperature change. Equip your students with the confidence and skills to progress in answering calculation questions.

This resource mimics the typical style of calculation question on AQA Foundation Papers. Following 4 worked examples, through 8 worded questions, students will independently practice applying the equation, with a focus on key skills of substitution and rearrangement, maximising their marks.

What’s Included:

  • Ready-to-print worksheet (.doc and .pdf)
  • Ready-to-print solution document (.doc and .pdf)
  • Worked examples and solutions PowerPoint (.ppt)

    Designed to help you to:
  • Adapt to the skills needs of Foundation learners with bespoke scaffolded questions to your scheme of work which target their gaps
  • Model excellence with worked examples which scaffold students into independent practice and encourage the FIFA (Formula, Insert, Fine-tune, Answer) method
  • Ensure progress with questions gradually increase in complexity and difficulty and remove scaffolding
  • Feedback without fuss by either projecting solutions for whole-class green penning, or handing out answer sheets for peer or self-assessment
  • Save time with a ready to use classroom activity that also works as homework, cover work or a revision session with no preparation required.

Could also be adapted for Edexcel and OCR, or for intervention, booster or revision sessions.
