Resources to accompany 'Chicken in the Kitchen'
A selection of resources to accompany 'Chicken in the Kitchen', by Nnedi Okorafor and illustrated by Mehrdokht Amini, a story about a young girl who meets a giant chicken in her kitchen, the night before the New Yam Festival. The text and the resources are most suitable for KS1 (Year 1/2). There are a range of resources available here: the curriculum map provides details of how 'Chicken in the Kitchen' can be used in a variety of lessons; the teacher information file and guided reading worksheet can be used by teachers preparing to use the text in the classroom; there are three grammar worksheets linked to National Curriculum expectations for KS1 and also activities that can be used in RE lessons.
