Pupils begin by exploring their rights and the responsibilities connected to them, distinguish between needs and wants, investigate the difference between fairness and equality, and consider what respectful behaviour looks like in different situations. In the final lesson, pupils bring all four areas together to decide what matters in their classroom. Every pupil has the opportunity to contribute ideas before the class agrees and creates its final Class Charter. Activities can be completed independently, in pairs, in groups or through whole-class discussion.
