I found a plan someone had made of areas to be covered for SATs revision ... i have broken this down into more detail as my build up before the easter break. Might be of some use to someone and can be adapted.
The features were looked at first and children encouraged to discuss their findings.
They were then given a moral dilemma based on a class text and given time to plan their persuasive text.
The class then verbally debated before children put their argument into text form in the next lesson.
A spreadsheet to help pupils with finding the values of a, b, c from an equation in preparation to substituting them into the formula. I find it's really important that they can do this easily before moving on. This can be used as a regular starter to get them to remember it, particularly negative values.
There are 4 sets of questions (Number, Algebra, Shape, Data) which are mainly A and A* (with some lower grade questions from topics which students struggle with, e.g. percentages, constructions). PLEASE REVIEW / COMMENT. Students work in pairs or small groups to answer the questions. When they finish a question they get it marked and if it is correct they are given cash to the value of the question. There are bank notes which you can put your school name and pictures of your teachers on. The team with the most money at the end could be given a prize.
New for 2016: a MUST for all KS2 primary schools + children preparing for SATs! This resource allows a student to choose a weak topic area of theirs (personalised learning) from a menu of 48 topics and instantly opens a PDF of past SATs questions specific to that topic. All 48 topic PDFs are housed on my Google drive account which can only be accessed via this single file. All questions contain a Youtube Button next to them, so if a student needs help, they simply HIT THE YOUTUBE button to zoom off to a mini Youtube tutorial specific to that question on GHammond's Youtube channel. The Youtube channel has over 140,000 hits and rising from those who used it during last year's SATs. Also included are the One-A-Day Mini Maths Vidamins for Y5+ Y6 and links to Thinking Outside theBox puzzle videos! This single PDF could easily be placed on single computers in a school or networked or even placed on a school website for maximum impact and usage! It could be used in whole class lessons in an ICT suite or from the comfort of a student's own living room on their tablet. Schools placing it on their website would be giving students the ability to access and revise for their SATs from home across multiple platforms - laptops, tablets and phones. Students could even revise on their phone on a car journey! P.S. The ginger haired boy on the file is a picture of me from 1986!
