This is a 9-10 lesson scheme of work on medieval medicine, c.1250-1500. It is designed to be used in line with the Edexcel GCSE specification. Each folder has lesson resources and worksheets from the workbook I have designed and used with my GCSE students. The lessons are as follows:

  1. What is the ‘big story’ of medicine through time?
  2. What was life like in medieval England?
  3. What did medieval folk believe caused disease?
  4. How was disease prevented in the medieval period?
  5. Where did medieval folk go for treatment?
  6. How did medieval folk react to the Black Death?
  7. Medieval Medicine Revision/Summary
  8. Q4 (12) Practice - Explain why there was little progress in medicine during the Middle Ages.

Nb - some of the activities on my worksheets rely on the Hodder textbook, Medicine in Britain.
