A comprehensive unit using a variety of Science Fiction (short) stories; focusing on reading for meaning and locating information in a text. This unit also encompasses a drama speaking and listening assessment. Topics covered include: Exploring the genre of science fiction; scripting and performing a short play; and designing and marketing a ‘new world’ and ‘housebot’. The short stories covered are- The prologue to ‘The Illustrated Man’; ‘The Veld’; ‘The Rocket’; ‘Examination Day’; ‘Compassion Circuit’; and ‘A Sound of Thunder’.
