Science Experiment/Investigation Workbook: Years 5-6

This year 5-6 Science Experiment/Investigation Workbook extends students’ scientific thinking by introducing more precise inquiry language and stronger procedural structure.

Students identify independent, dependent and controlled variables, write more developed aims and hypothesis, design fair tests, write repeatable methods, collect and organise data, analyse patterns, evaluate their investigation, and reflect on limitations and improvements. The workbook maintains strong scaffolding while building students’ confidence with more formal science language.

This workbook is designed to work alongside the Investigate Like a Scientist posters and classroom slides, making it ideal for teachers who want a consistent, explicit teaching program rather than isolated worksheets.
