My class were majorly struggling with the basics when it came to writing so i created this unit. It has made a huge difference to my writing this year.
This is a two week unit, where the full focus is understanding basic sentence structure using a Harry Potter scene (first time seeing Hogwarts) as a stimulus. (This is fully suitable for all ages and will not spoil the film for anyone).
It covers:
- simple sentences
- subject/verb/object
- fragments
- run-on sentences
- nouns
- compound sentences
- complex sentences
- adjectives
- model texts
- worksheets and word banks
It has produced some excellent results in my year 5/6 class and has been used in year 3/4 too.
