Why Stage 3?
Stage 3 builds directly on the skills taught in Stages 1 and 2. Rather than asking children to make their sentences longer all at once, one new element is introduced: the adjective.
Children learn that adjectives describe nouns and can be used purposefully to add useful detail to their writing. The familiar sentence-building structure remains in place so that children can concentrate on mastering this new skill without becoming overwhelmed.
The aim isn’t simply to produce longer sentences. It is to help children understand how sentences are constructed, giving them a structure they can gradually build upon as their confidence grows.
Perfect for: whole-class sentence work, writing intervention, small groups, SEND support, EAL learners, reluctant writers, home learning and home education.
Please note: The Sentence Builder Cards shown within the resource are not included with Stage 3. They are available separately from my store and are designed to be used across the full Everyday Sentence Builder programme.
