The Sequence Cards file is an educational resource designed to help children develop logical thinking, storytelling, and sequencing skills.

The document contains multiple sets of visual stories, each broken down into three chronological steps.

The scenarios depict relatable, everyday actions and natural processes, such as building a snowman, washing a dog, mailing a letter, and a bird hatching from an egg.
The final page features a simple “1, 2, 3” sequencing board to help structure the activity.

How to Use the Sequence Cards
Here is a visual breakdown of how to prepare and facilitate this activity:

  1. Preparation
Print and Laminate: Print the pages in color. For durability, consider laminating the pages before cutting.
Cut out the Cards: Carefully cut out each individual picture card. Keep the “1, 2, 3” board intact on its own separate page.
Organize into Sets: Initially, group the cards into their distinct 3-part stories (e.g., keep the three “pizza making” cards together).

  2. The Sequencing Activity
Select a Story: Present the child with one shuffled set of three cards (for example, the boy putting on his pajamas and going to sleep).
Introduce the Board: Place the “1, 2, 3” board in front of them. Explain that “1” is what happens first, “2” is what happens next, and “3” is how the story ends.
Sort and Place: Ask the child to look at the three cards and place them on the numbered board in the correct logical order.

  3. Extend the Learning
Narrate the Action: Once the cards are in order, point to each card and ask the child to tell you the story using sequencing words like “First, Next, and Finally.”
Increase the Difficulty: Once they master individual sets, mix two or three different stories together. Ask the child to sort out which cards belong to which story before placing them in order.
