I love this! I'm thinking get the higher ability students to draw the circuits just from the descriptions, and then differentiate for the lower ability by giving them the pictures to match. Thanks!

A practical lesson which allows pupils to follow step-by-step instructions in order to complete an investigation into the difference in voltage between parallel and series circuits. All instructions are on the PowerPoint as well as a mini-starter, a 'set your own homework' plenary and questions relating to the lesson. Apparatus (Per Group) - Power Pack, Wires, Croc Clips, 3 Bulbs, Voltmeter.

#### Series & Parallel Circuits

An Energy Ball is a hollow ball that contains a light and a sound device, both of which
are attached by wires in series to two metal electrodes that are attached to the outside of
the ball as shown in the diagram on the right. When both electrodes are touched by one
person or by several people in contact with each other, the circuit is closed and the ball
lights and makes a noise.

#### Electromagnetic Spectrum and waves Comic Book Activity

Activity Length: 40 minutes<br />
Suitable for students of all abilities.<br />
This is a 3 part resource. The first is a comic book style text that introduces EM waves as being transverse and as waves of different lengths and frequency (there is an explanation as to what these terms mean). The second part is a user friendly worksheet, again in a comic book style, where students can use textbooks, video or internet to discover the uses, dangers, advantages, disadvantages, frequency and wavelengths of the spectrum.<br />
My students enjoy using the comic-book style textbooks, in particular my reluctant readers and dyslexic students, however, there should always be an alternative source information around, like a text book, to ensure that they are exposed to text of all types. <br />
The third is a powerpoint file of the comic book if you should wish to present it rather than printing it.<br />
The activity will challenge the higher abilities as they will be expected to apply their knowledge in a compare and contrast activity, while also being expected to produce work that shows a deeper understanding.<br />

They are mainly for AQA as that was the syllabus I taught – but some are from different boards – selected to illustrate how to deal with a question type or topic that was not on the paper.<br />
