Hi all,

Here is a set of questions that assess children's knowledge of shape with particular focus on parallel and perpendicular lines.

They're designed for the children to work in pairs where they read the statement then have to 'Prove it' by writing and/or drawing their explanations in the shape provided. They must use mathematical language! Once they've done this they have to place their answer under the correct headings of 'Always, Sometimes or Never' (Included) that are placed around the room.

At the end of the lesson I ask the children to look at all of the answers and discuss whether they agree or not - this usually promotes some healthy whole class discussion.

Have fun!
