This is a scheme designed for KS4 and Yr 9. It is a chance for them to expand their knowledge of a relevant topic as well as develop their AQA English Language skills. The final task will be for the class to draft, edit and improve upon a letter to the head teacher regarding guns in the classroom.
This is suitable for any exam board but tailored to the AQA spec. It is an issue that engages all students of every ability and can easily be differentiated up or down depending on class. The scheme is designed to last for one week (5 lessons) but can be stretched further if needs be.
There are opportunities for green pen activities as well as further research and debate on this topical issue.
