This is a resource which I have developed for Yr 9 as an introduction to 19th century text study at GCSE. The unit covers the context of Victorian society as well as the Industrial revolution and class. There are assessment opportunities for both reading and writing skills as part of the lessons and differentiation is integrated into the tasks.
The scheme covers only part 1 of the novel but gives a detailed introduction to author technique, developing key reading skills as well as plot and character.
